Lisa Sutherland is a Registered Social Worker who completed her Bachelor’s degree in Social Work with a Minor in Psychology from Ryerson University and completed her Master’s Degree in Social Work at the University of Toronto with a focus on Gerontology.
She works primarily through a coaching and supportive counselling approach using Solution Focused Therapy with elements of Narrative Therapy and Mindfulness practices. Lisa can offer a different perspective and help guide the conversation through a strength based lens that allows for the possibility of change. Her approach centers around the theme of resiliency and uses harm reduction strategies.
Lisa works with adults and older adults dealing with stress, anxiety and low mood, relationship struggles, experiences of grief and loss, dementia support & caregiver burnout, HIV, and navigating life transitions. She believes that you are the expert of your life and know what works best for you.
She is passionate about working with individuals and uses a client centered approach by meeting folks where they are at in their journey. Sometimes the journey makes us laugh or cry, and sometimes we do both!
